Basics You Need In Your Closet

I've said this before but accessories are my all time favorite part of an outfit. Don't get me wrong, I am a big clothes junky too but I tend to stick to more basic pieces or at least I have been as I get older so that I can mix and match and create more looks and then go with more eccentric or statement pieces when it comes to accessories. I love a good basic t-shirt that I can dress up or down and wanted to share with you my go to must have basics. I plan on doing a must have accessories post soon too but wanted to break it up.

Basics you need in your closet:

  • A black t-shirt and white t-shirt both go with everything and are super versatile. I always throw these in my suitcase when I travel.
  • A dark pair of jeans (not distressed) and a distressed pair of jeans. I am all about the distressed denim trend but sometimes you need to something a little more dressy to pair with blouses (think casual friday at work or to church).
  • A black cami and a white cami (are you seeing a trend here?). These are perfect to layer. You can wear them with shorts and jeans in the summer and with chunky cardigans and booties in the fall. They're also perfect for all you girls that need to dress up for work, throw it on with a pair of dress pants and a blazer or cardigan or tucked in to a pencil skirt with heels.

  • A really good pair of black leggings. I am all about saving some money but when it comes to a great pair of leggings this is something you don't want to skimp on. I have two favorites in my closet and honestly, that is enough for me. My Lululemon Wunder Unders were definitely a splurge but well worth it. There is a reason this pair of leggings has a cult following. They are SUPER flattering and comfortable and stay in place when working out (or ya know, running to get Starbucks haha).   My second favorite pair are my Zella Live In Leggings. This pair is more affordable and have so many great reviews.
  • A LBD is probably a no brainer but truly such a staple in every women's closet. I like to keep two in mine. One that is more casual and can be worn in an "everyday" setting and one that I can dress up  for a wedding, shower, date night and xyz.
  • Last but not least, a denim jacket. You've probably noticed that this is something I wear A LOT and with good reason. Not only is it super comfy but it is very versatile and can be worn spring, summer and fall. I also love a good utility jacket, especially in the spring and fall.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Monday Must Haves

gingham tank

outfit: tank (under $15)  ||  denim  ||  bag  ||  watch c/o  ||  sunnies  ||  earrings c/o  ||  sandals

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We had a productive weekend full of house and yard work, Starbucks runs ;), studying (for Jon), and church. I threw on this tank on Saturday to run errands and go out for pizza with the fam. I love gingham in the summer but am not a fan of making it too preppy if you know what I mean.  Wearing distressed jeans with gingham adds a little edge to the look so that you don't look like a picnic blanket. This tank comes in a few other colors and is under $15! I love the tie detail which is detachable and how thick the material is (making it not see through). I have been browsing summer clothes lately and shared some of my Monday Must Haves below!

Here are a few Monday Must Haves on my wish list right now!

  • A straw tote in the summer will never go out of style! This one is perfect for the beach, pool and to pack all your essentials in for a road trip.
  • This cute polka dot dress has such fun details on it and could be styled a million different ways (think jean jacket and sandals for brunch, heels and statement earrings for a bridal shower or converse sneaks and a baseball cap to run errands in)
  • You can never have enough pairs of sunglasses! This pair is nice and big to protect your eyes and skin from the sun and affordable where you won't mind throwing them in your beach bag.
  • How cute is this swim suit?! Love the cut out detail!
  • These cut off denim shorts have great reviews and are a little bit longer than your typical pair.
  • I've been eye balling these sandals for months and think it's time to finally pull the trigger. Love the neutral color that would match everything.

    Spring Accessories Under $50

    spring accessories under $50

Accessories have always been my favorite part about fashion. I love that you can take a simple t-shirt and add a few statement pieces and totally transform your look. You can take one outfit and change the look in a million different ways just by switching out your accessories. I pick accessories each day based on my mood. Somedays I am all about some chunky bright statement earrings and a colorful handbag and other days I like to play it down with some classic gold dainty jewelry and neutral sandals. It's so much fun and always the first thing my eyes are drawn to when I look at anyone else's outfit. I love spring and summer accessories and try to pick up a few new pieces each season that are budget friendly. Here are a few things on my wishlist that are $50 and under that I think you'll love!

    1. How cute is this bag?! This mustard color is so popular this season and can be worn through the fall too (just add some deeper hues). I love it mixed with tans, turquoise and black.
    2. Turquoise is always my favorite color to add in for spring and summer. These earrings are so much fun and would look fab with a black tank and jean shorts or add in some bright pink if you're feeling it.
    3. This animal print is so chic and Dolce Vita makes some really great quality shoes. This pair is 50% off!
    4. You know I love a good pair of bright pink earrings! This pair would look pretty on any skin tone.
    5. You can't go wrong with a good straw hat. This one is perfect to wear from the beach, to running errands and out to dinner. Also good for when you're on day 4 of dry shampoo #momlife
    6. I have this gold lariat necklace and it is so pretty! It's a fun twist on your normal classic gold dainty jewelry without being too much.
    7. How cute are these bow sandals? They come in a few different colors and are on sale!
    8. This belt is a good alternative to the oh so popular and trendy Gucci belt (and way more affordable).
    9. This little cutie crossbody is the perfect shade of neutral pink. It will match just about everything in your spring/summer wardrobe and it's a great hands free bag for all your summer travels.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you found something you love.

    Christine
